Registration has already begun for patrons wishing to be a part of this historic event. On November 14th, 2008 the staff of the 360 Bar and Grill hopes that they will be able to shave 360 heads in one hour. Ten stylist from Tea Hair Design and the Beauty Nook have volunteered their services for this charitable event.
By asking each participant to raise $50, the owners of the 360 Bar and Grill hope to raise $18,000 to give to the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org)
Plucker's cousin, owner Melissa Naatjes, is hoping this event won't just draw the attention of the people at Guinness, but raise community awareness as well.
"Everyone has cancer touch their life somehow, mine was my cousin, we were lucky that he was able to fight it! Also for anyone whose hair is long enough we would like them to donate it to Locks of Love ( www.locksoflove.org ). The 360 Bar & Grill will give special bandannas to all the guys who help in our goal!" says Naatjes.
Shaving will begin at 7:00pm on the 14th. Check in will take place from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. For acceptance in the Guinness Book of World Records (www.guinnessworldrecords.com)
1. Candidates for shaving must have a normal head of hair prior to the event. No
Person who is partly or completely bald, or whose hair is receding, may be
Shaved. The shave must be a No 1 or No 2 cut but nothing above this.
2. Standard hairdressing equipment should be used for the attempt, ideally an
electric/battery-
3. Only those heads that are judged by the witnesses to have been completely
shaved may count towards the total.
4. If blood is drawn on more than 30 heads, the attempt is invalidated.
5. All persons having their head shaved must sign a disclaimer before the event.
No person under the age of 18 may participate without the written consent of
their parent or guardian.
"Last year our staff and supporters helped us break several world records. Levi Johnson broke the record for most Tabasco sauce drank in 30 seconds (5.7 ounces). We also broke the world record for most karaoke sang by a group of people when we sang for 360 hours. That record inspired our new name, 360 Bar and Grill. This year we hope to inspire an awareness of those fighting cancer in our community. We know the people of Tea will want to be a part of this, not just for the record books, but in honor of their friends and families who deserve the real recognition for their courage." said Naatjes.
