Oct. 27, 2008 - PRLog -- Home Buying Institute, one of the Internet's largest websites for home buying information, recently announced the creation of a new resource designed to teach consumers about the importance of good credit and how to achieve it.

The Consumer Credit Help blog gives consumers a place to go for straight answers to tough credit questions. It is a free service offered by the publishers of the Home Buying Institute.

As a result of the economic crisis we are now experiencing, credit scores will become more important than ever for U.S. consumers. Good credit has also been needed to qualify for financing, but lenders in the "post-crisis" economy will require borrowers to have better credit scores than they did in the past, and this is especially true for mortgage loans.

This is what prompted Brandon Cornett, creator of the Home Buying Institute, to launch a new blog that allows consumers to get straightforward answers to all of their credit questions. Visitors can type a question into a box provided on the blog, and a response will then be posted onto the blog within two business days (but usually within the same day).

Cornett explained his motivations for launching the new Q&A tool:

"Our economy is in terrible shape right now," he said, "and bad credit has a lot to do with that. When consumers understand how credit works, and what they can do to maintain a high credit score, the economy as a whole becomes stronger. On the contrary, if the United States continues to be plagued by credit and debt problems, we are primed for a future economic crisis like the one we're dealing with now."

How to get answers to your credit questions:

Anyone interested in using the Consumer Credit Help blog can do so for free, by following the simple instructions below:

1. Visit http://www.homebuyinginstitute.com/help to access the blog.

2. Type your credit question into the box provided and click "send."

3. Check back in a couple of days. Questions are answered on the blog within two business days.

There's also an FAQ section that lists some of the most frequently asked questions, so it's best to start there before asking a new question. Common topics include the ways to improve a credit score, how to dispute errors within a credit report, and how to interpret a credit report the way a lender would.
