On Wednesday 5th November, ‘Sparks in the Dark’ will see the sky over Swansea Bay light up with colour and illuminations, as the spectacular firework display mesmerises the crowds.
The fun starts at 6pm when BBC Last Choir Standing winners ‘Only Men Aloud’ perform their fresh and eclectic choral singing.
The choir are known for beating off tough competition from over 1,000 entrants and fifteen finalists in ‘BBC’s Last Choir Standing’ watched on Saturday nights by millions of viewers.
Fresh from their new record deal they will provide the exhilarating pre-fireworks musical entertainment.
Consisting of students, musicians, teachers, a gardener and a pharmacist their repertoire encompasses music from 15th Century to modern times.
There will also be children’s entertainers and fire jugglers on hand to add additional excitement.
Frances Jenkins, Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and Events said "Fireworks contrasting against the night sky are a magnificent spectacle and create a fun atmosphere in a safe environment, combined with entertainment and live music from ‘Only Men Aloud’ the event will appeal to people of all ages and tastes”.
As well as being excellent value, the display is well organised and safe, with plenty of fun for all the family.
The Swansea Road Safety team are also supporting ‘Sparks in the Dark’. Jeff Green from the section said “Staff will be on hand encouraging everyone to wear or carry something bright or reflective during the darker mornings, evenings and become as visible as possible to motorists. We hope the people of Swansea will join us and have a fun as well as a safe celebration"
Gates will open at 5.30pm with fireworks starting at 7.30pm. Due to the popularity of ‘Only Men Aloud’, organisers are advising people to buy their tickets in advance to avoid the queues. Tickets are also cheaper if they are bought in advance.
Tickets are priced £4 in advance or £5 on the night, concessions £3 in advance or £4 on the night, PTL (Swansea) £2 in advance or £3 on the night.
