The recent AIANTA conference held in Couer d'Alene, Idaho September 29th through October 1st, 2008 brought together leaders from Native American Tribal Enterprises to address the issues of promoting economic growth during troubling economic times. NACE CEO, Sean T. Henisa, is taking a proactive approach to finding new ways of increasing revenues by networking with leaders from Native American tribes.
The conference, entitled Tribal Tourism: Culture and Commerce, featured speakers who introduced the idea of promoting tourism as a way to increase revenues for Native American Enterprises. Representatives from the Small Business Administration also presented a Tribal Assessment Tool that was created to identify areas for improvement.
The development of tourism represents additional opportunities for the Tribal Enterprise and attendance at the conference equips the leaders with new tools for developing this source of revenue.
Since Sean Henisa's arrival at Navajo Arts & Crafts Enterprise in early 2006, his focus has been on identifying opportunities for increasing revenue for the Enterprise. Included in his strategic plan, is the vertical integration of the silver supply chain along with the pending acquisitions of silver fabrication and wholesaling companies.
