On completion, in approximately 11 months, the development will provide Bingley with a much improved shopping experience, a new modern library and a small selection of quality one bedroom apartments.
The re-modelled shopping centre will have more retail space and better sized units allowing for an improved range of retailers. The Co-operative has moved out of the centre while the work is completed and the Library has moved into temporary accommodation in the main mall. Otherwise it is business as usual for the existing retailers who will remain open during the regeneration process. Betfred, Boots, Clinton Cards, Greggs, Klick, Nat West, Subway, Superdrug and Timpson have all confirmed their commitment to Bingley and 5Rise.
"The Co-operative is delighted that it will soon be providing its much valued customers in the town with an enhanced shopping service at a bigger and better store with a wider selection of goods which will better meet all their daily grocery needs. While work on the new store is underway, we will continue to offer a service from a smaller temporary store in Main Street. In addition, we intend to provide a free bus service for customers between Bingley and our larger food store in Baildon," said Paul Hanson, The Co-operative Food regional operations manager.
“I am pleased we are able to deliver a good news story for the residents of Bingley,” said Richard Holmes, Director 4Urban.
Cllr Adrian Naylor, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: “We’re thrilled that the work on 5Rise is starting so promptly, providing a much needed boost to Bingley and its residents. We’re looking forward to seeing this bigger and better development taking shape and once it is completed the town will benefit from a superior shopping experience.”
