Follow on Google News | Yucatán Tour Features Mayan Pyramids and Crystal SkullsOrganized by Vancouver-based Sacred Earth Journeys, the 10-day excursion to northeast Mexico includes a tour of Mayan pyramids and ceremonial sites and a dramatic light show that only happens twice a year.
By: Helen Tomei The "Spring Equinox Journey to Discover the Sacred Maya Wisdom and the Mystery of the Crystal Skulls" is scheduled for March 20 to 29, 2009. Included in the itinerary are visits to the lesser-visited Mayan sites -- Mayapan, the Loltún Caves, Labnah, Oxkintok, Dzibilchaltú Native elders, who ordinarily keep their ancient wisdom closely guarded, have agreed to share some of their secret knowledge with outsiders. As tour members explore tropical jungles, climb pyramids, meditate in sacred temples and explore mysterious caves, they will be accompanied by wise local shamans as well as spirits of the ancient teachers. One of the most fascinating enigmas the group will study is that of the Crystal Skulls. "They are more than props in an Indiana Jones movie," says archaeologist and pre-historian Stephen Mehler, who is one of the tour leaders. "Crystal skulls may be keys for unlocking 3,000 year-old mysteries." Helping the group discover the connection between crystal skulls and Mayan ceremonial sites will be Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros, who has studied with traditional wisdom keepers and now teaches about Mayan astronomy, philosophy, medicine, prayers and healing. "This tour is a rare opportunity to absorb the cosmic energy of the Spring Equinox," said Helen Tomei, president of Sacred Earth Journeys. "This sacred energy will help people connect with the wisdom of the ancients and encourage their own personal growth and transformation." Contact: Helen Tomei, President Sacred Earth Journeys Ltd.
