Oct. 22, 2008 - PRLog -- Leica Geosystems announced last Tuesday the acquisition of Perth-based Rinex Technology. RINEX is one of Australia’s premier hardware and software companies for machine based GPS guidance systems. This strategic merger further strengthens Leica Geosystems’ presence within the Western Australian mining and agriculture industries.

In August Leica Geosystems also officially launched their Western Australian office for mining systems. Leica Geosystems is a world leading supplier of mine management, optimisation and GPS guidance solutions for mining machinery.

As part of the establishment of their Western Australia office, Leica Geosystems recently expanded their technical presence with the recruitment of key personnel including a WA Account Manager and Senior Project Engineer. Already established in Perth, their local foundation is planned to play a pivotal role in providing responsive support for Leica Geosystems’ mining customers and to ensure that the delivery, implementation and ongoing operation of Leica Geosystems’ state-of-the-art systems are effectively supported at all times.

Speaking of Leica Geosystems’ advancement into the West Australian market, Kevin Greenwood, Vice President Mining Systems, said: “This latest strategic acquisition and focussed Western Australian expansion, in conjunction with our recent launch of our Jigsaw360 Mine Management Solution at MINExpo, signifies our commitment to the mining industry—and in particular—our commitment to Western Australia, a powerhouse of the global mining industry.”

“Demand and distance have demonstrated the benefits of Leica having a solid and tangible presence in Western Australia. As shown by the opening of our Perth mining office several months ago, and this latest acquisition, we are dedicated to this region and are wholly committed to our customers there.”

Mr Greenwood continued on to say, “We believe this benefits not only Leica Geosystems, but also our customers who have much to gain from our world-class productivity and profitability enhancing solutions within their mining operations.”
