In recognition of recent economic events and their resultant effect on many corporate budgets, the Data Governance & Stewardship Community of Practice (DGS-COP) will allow non-members to attend members-only web events during the rest of October through November at no charge. The DGS-COP will offer free registration to non-members for the 'Knowledge Exchange' web events as well as for both their 'Meet the Expert' and 'Community Report' format tele-gatherings.
"With increased scrutiny by regulatory agencies into corporate practices, implementation of formal data governance practices are becoming crucial for organizations,"
The DGS-COP event itinerary during this time period will include Knowledge Exchanges on 'Data Governance Program Funding Models,' 'Data Change Management,' 'Politics and Persuasion' and 'The Principles of Data Governance. The Community will also host the Meet the Expert tele-gathering, 'Data Governance Leaders As Third-Siders - Their Roles In Resolving Data-Related Issues.
Two Community Report events are scheduled as well, during which Data Governance Institute president Gwen Thomas will report on the findings of DGS-COP members on 'Data Governance Principles' as well as 'Data Governance and Data Change Management.' All of these events will be open to non-members from this date until the end of November 2008.

The DGS-COP 'Meet the Expert' and 'Community Report' tele-gathering formats are very similar to a conference presentation. Participants join in via conference call; the presenter's display materials are posted on the web. Participants can submit questions via email either before or during the presentation;
The DGS-COP 'Knowledge Exchange' is a more intimate interactive web conference. These are currently limited to 22 participants and are more of a 'roundtable discussion' format, with the presenter leading and facilitating the discussion. The DGS-COP 'Knowledge Exchange' events is normally open to members only, and due to the very limited enrollment, prospective participants are suggested to register early.
