Smile Foundation salutes childhood as it celebrated a fun filled evening, ‘Bachpan Ek Utsav ’ on October 19, 2008, a carnival that was held at Arun Vihar Community Centre, Noida in association with Sankalp Sakshar Samiti, a partner organisation of Smile Foundation.
The carnival was organised with the aim of sensitizing privileged masses to stand up for the development of the underprivileged, the ideology that is the prime base for ‘Action For Children’, a flagship programme of Smile Foundation running successfully across India. The event provided a stage to the talent of the underprivileged, which was recognised by privileged individuals from different backgrounds like administration. clubs, corporate organisations, academicians etc. present during the occasion.
“Personal involvement of the privileged sections of society is the key to speed up the development process. Individual contributions more in the form of time, energy and intellect than money are required for strengthening developments at grassroot level”, said Naresh Choudhury, Chief Operating Officer, Smile Foundation.
Children of different age groups performed special shows including dance and songs, nursery rhymes and skits etc. Magic Show by young children attracted one and all irrespective of their age. Stalls of Diwali gifts displaying gift items, handicraft products etc allured visitors’ in large number.
“The event will raise certain amount of money through this carnival under Action For Children programme. Smile Foundation will contribute the equal amount of funds raised by Sankalp, which will be utilized for local child development projects in the community”, said Ms. Priti Kalra, Senior Manager, Action For Children, Smile Foundation.
