China is the largest clock and watch producer in the world. China's clock and watch manufacturing industry has gradually formed a structure of cluster development with small- and medium-sized companies as mainstay, and private companies and Sino-foreign joint ventures, Sino-foreign cooperative enterprise and foreign-invested enterprise have expanded rapidly, accounting for more than 70% of the total number of companies. At present, China has six main production regions, namely Pearl River Delta in Guangdong Province, Fujian Province, Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, Shandong Province and Tianjin, a municipality directly under the central government.

In 2007, China's total clock sales reached 700,200 units, up 3.96% year on year, and China's total watch sales were 3,306,300 units, among which 1,113,500 were imported, increasing 12.57% compared to a year earlier.
