Los Angeles, CA - RobinCharlotte Jewelry Designs, by California artist Robin Humphrey, launches today into the accessories world with a fishy new twist on jewelry design. This premier collection features porthole belt buckles and other accessories with actual tiny fish and other sea creatures seemingly swimming inside. RobinCharlotte is founded on the idea of giving overlooked beauty, discarded curiosities and nature's eclectic oddities a place to shine. RobinCharlotte's exotic jewelry line includes necklaces, bracelets and earrings that use a combination of hand chosen semi-precious gems, a variety of vintage findings, bones, shark teeth, handmade resin fish pendants, gold-filled and sterling silver components when combined create a unique high-end line fit for a mermaid.
To create these never seen before accessories, Robin starts by individually collecting the fish and seahorses from local pet shops as they naturally pass away. Next, she preserves each fish with care, then touches them up with paints before layering them in surreal one-of-a-kind underwater scenes using epoxy resin, found objects, other tiny sea animals, plants and vintage findings. RobinCharlotte emerges as a standout accessory company that is offering a new twist on recycling while giving a second life to nature's most beautiful and often overlooked creatures.
Robin graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and since has worked for a broad array of fashion and accessories designers. It was only the next logical step to form her own company, RobinCharlotte, when friends and strangers began to ask where they could get the designs she was wearing.
"I never stop looking all around me, under rocks and deep in cracks. It is almost as if the components I use in my jewelry find and seek me out. I just keep my eye open for their arrival," says Robin. "I just found a bag of tiny shark jaws and a bottle of bees at an estate sale. They are next on my list to cast or put in resin."
