Smile Foundation takes immense pleasure to inform that 100% of students from one of the Smile Twin e-Learning centre in Delhi have been placed with leading beauty corporate, ‘Ayur Herbals’ as ‘Beauty Advisors’.
These underprivileged children completed an especially designed course of three months from NOW, which runs Smile Twin e-Learning Programme supported by Smile Foundation. The course trained students on basic computer skills, proficiency in English language, customer relationship skills, life skills and personality development.
“We chose Smile Foundation simply because we get qualified and committed students. In the process we also feel that reaching out to underprivileged is our responsibility and they are in no way less qualified than the products of other beauty training centres”, said a representative of Ayur Herbals.
"Smile Twin e-Learning Programme or STeP is an ambitious effort from Smile Foundation where we are converging resources to empower the educated youth from poor families through relevant market oriented job trainings. We plan to directly impact 50000 youth in five years under STeP. With every STEP student getting a job we see our dream come true", said Ms. Manju M, Sr.Manager (Programmes)
Students enrolled in the course came from underprivileged backgrounds with a need of employment. They hail from slums of Bhogal, Ashram and Nizamuddin etc with their parents working as either petty hawkers or rickshaw pullers. Before joining the STeP course all of them could hardly speak a word to express themselves. All of them who are girls had no courage to step out in commercial world and dream of a lucrative job. Smile Foundation realises the fact that besides education the employability needs of such underprivileged students have to be met in essential. STeP is one such innovative initiative of the organisation.
Niraja is overwhelmed to know that she has got a job as a beauty advisor in Ayur. "When I used to go out I see many smartly dressed young girls of my age going to offices, I satrted dreaming to be like one of them. I thank god for the same,” says Niraja.
Anjali, her class mate at Smile Foundation STeP centre at Ashram, is proud and happy at this opportunity. She also has qualified as Beauty Advisor in Ayur Herbals. In her words, “No one in my neighbourhood thought that I will not be able to do much with the kind of education I have. But today when they heard about my job, they are seeking advice for their daughters. I feel like I am on top of the world; thanks to Smile Foundation.”
Smile Foundation feels that nothing can surpass the joy of getting a placement for such children as this is a stepping stone for their illumined future.
