Steve Poltz, Quirky Punk/folk Pioneer, Coming To Anthology Oct. 24

FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE RUGBURNS, JEWEL COLLABORATOR, coming to Anthology, San Diego's premier live music and fine dining venue, on Oct. 24.

Oct. 16, 2008 - PRLog -- SAN DIEGO, CALIF., Oct. 17 – Steve Poltz—a master entertainer who’s a sensitive balladeer, stand-up comic, punk rocker and classical guitarist all wrapped into a one-man dramatic production—is coming to Anthology on Oct. 24.

Poltz’s latest work is “Unraveling,” an album that stubbornly defies convention and blurs musical boundaries. “Unraveling,” which is the companion to Steve’s “Traveling” album released earlier this year, has just been released digitally.

From the contagiously punchy “Once Again” to the politically charged “Bombs,” Poltz mesmerizes the listener. “Light In Your Eyes” includes a verse about watching a monkey pull a man’s tooth in Morocco.

Poltz, who references baseball in several of his songs, wrote a theme song for the Toronto Blue Jays and performed it at a JaysCare event. Ever the eccentric showman, he donned a Polish sausage costume and ran in the Sausage Race at Miller Park during a Milwaukee Brewers game. He sang the National Anthem for his beloved San Diego Padres. Major League Baseball took note of Poltz’s enthsiasm for the sport and included a feature story about him on MLB.com: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article_entertainment.jsp?ymd=200....

A former punk/folk pioneer (The Rugburns), Poltz co-wrote one of the longest-running songs in Billboard chart history (Jewel’s “You Were Meant For Me”) and released one of Neil Young’s favorite CD’s (“Answering Machine,” a collection of 45-second songs recorded as outgoing messages). Jeep used his song “Chinese Vacation” for the company’s popular “Sandbox” commercial.
