Ronique Marshall, actress and former co-cast member of the BET reality show, Keyshia Cole, The Way It Is, will tell her story of overcoming challenges and obstacles to educate and uplift the youth of Maryland. October 25, 2008, Marshall will have the honor of speaking to young men and women about the good choices she made as a teen to survive homelessness, physical abuse, teen pregnancy and parental addiction and how those experiences made her the woman she is today.
The invitation by the Young Women of Distinction and the Hip Hop Education Organization was issued to Ms. Marshall to assist in their mission to encourage youth to "discover your greatness and live your legacy" according to Stefanie Magness, President of Young Women of Distinction.
The two day conference is designed as a forum for teens who have questions and issues about topics such as sex, anorexia, education, self esteem and body image and to offer an opportunity to get support, encourage open dialogue and positive reinforcement to meet their life challenges. Invited participants and guest include, Alisha Jones (Miss Black America), The Maryland Job Corps, Delate Joanne Benson (Prince George's County, District 24), Ambre Anderson, (actress & Model), Priscilla Clark, (publicist), Members of the DC Divas, Eloise Greenfield (children's book author), National Capital Area Girls Scouts, Charles County NAACP, Ayo Handy-Kendi (breathing coach).
We would like to invite you to have a conversation with Ronique Marshall to discuss the YWOC Conference, its importance to the lives of teens and their families and how Ms. Marshall chooses to let her life be an example.
