"The best movie recommendations are ones you get from your friends, because they like the same kind of movies you do," says Michael Stubblefield, founder and creator of Popcorn Confessions. "For today's student, this is how you connect with friends. You text, IM, and email with your friends and accquaintances."
So far no social media site has really had an emphasis on using these new technologies for something as simple as finding a new movie to watch.
The web site, http://www.popcornconfessions.com, allows users to read reviews posted by other users, vote on reviews that are useful, review and rate movies, as well as connect with and suggest movies to friends. The goal being to turn the user into the final authority on what is or is not a good movie.
Other new features are in the works. Stubblefield plans to add blog integration, to let users display lists of their favorite movies in their blogs, and a new recommendation system that will automatically suggest movies based on other users with similar interests.
