FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 14, 2008 -
Fourteen animals from the nation’s largest companion animal sanctuary have been named after the Moobia Stones--from The Manadoob illustrated kids novel--under a partnership agreement between Best Friends Animal Society and Sadiki LLC.

A horse, two dogs, and a pigeon—adoptable, current residents of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in southern Utah--have been given names that match up, respectively, to four of the novel’s Moobia Stones: Darby, Astra, Tuli and Iduna. In the story, the stones are engraved with symbols that impart special messages of wisdom to children.

Supporters of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary may sponsor an animal by visiting www.Manadoob.com and donating $25 to the sanctuary. In return, Best Friends distributes to sponsors a downloadable photo and story of their sponsored animal, a quarterly newsletter and a subscription to Best Friends magazine.

Here are short biographies on the first four Best Friends animals named after the Moobia Stones:

Darby the horse truly understands the importance of living life to the fullest. Even though he can’t be ridden these days, he would love to become somebody’s pasture pal. Carrying the Celtic/Gaelic name for “free man,” Darby is named after the Moobia Stone of Self, which helps one find direction in life.

Astra the dog has personally seen the harm that comes when people deny their responsibilities, as she was rescued from a condemned farm. Each day, however, Astra gains confidence and understands that though we all make mistakes in life, we can all learn from them. Astra is named after the Moobia Stone of Responsibility, which stresses the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions.

Tuli the dog, pronounced TOO-ly, is an African word meaning “silent person.” A bug-eyed ball of cuteness, Tuli has courage, confidence, and knows in her heart that if she is open and loving to others, those feelings will be returned by everyone she encounters. Named after the Moobia Stone of Trust, Tuli silently passes along to everyone around her a sense of trust and belief in oneself.

Iduna, a beautiful, flowing white pigeon, spent much of his life in a one-foot by one-foot cage. But at Best Friends, he’s free to spread his wings. Named after the Moobia Stone of Wisdom, Iduna reflects the classic, sought-after concepts of wisdom, rejuvenation, cleansing and healing.

The Manadoob is an integrated brand that targets children ages eight and older, as well as anyone who may be curious about the special connection that exists between humans and animals. The world of these ancient animals comes alive in The Manadoob Secret Connection Kit, an illustrated novel and game, together with an interactive website that invites children to join The Manadoob on their adventures to learn and believe in themselves. Best Friends Animal Society will receive donations from all Manadoob purchases.

Extensive research studies conclude that the natural bond between humans and animals contributes to a healthier quality of life for both species.  Following the success of her award-winning documentary about the positive benefits of animal assisted therapy for children, June A. Salin, created The Manadoob, a team of ancient mystical animals who appear on Earth to befriend children—and help them discover how humans and animals can work together to make the world a better place.

The Manadoob Secret Connection Kit includes the illustrated novel, Manadoob, Mystery of the Moobia Stones; 16 multi-colored Moobia Stones, uniquely hand-engraved with a special symbol imparting messages of wisdom from the Manadoob; The Moobia Stone Guide Book; a fully-lined drawstring Moob-It pouch to hold the stones; and a faux leather “Sadiki” wristband.  Additionally, to support the launch, Sadiki LLC and Best Friends Animal Society have created a special Manadoob/Best Friends Celebration Charm which can be attached to the Sadiki wristband.

The Manadoob Secret Connection Kit (SRP: $39.95) and the Manadoob/Best Friends Celebration Charm (SRP: $9.95) are available through the Manadoob website (www.manadoob.com) and the Best Friends Animal Society website (www.bestfriends.org), with additional retail outlets anticipated leading up to the holidays.  The Manadoob will donate to Best Friends Animal Society up to 50% of gross profits on all purchases.

The Manadoob brand is co-created with Susan. R. Cooper. The novel, Manadoob, Mystery of the Moobia Stones, was written by June A. Salin; and the Moobia Stone Guide Book was created and written by Salin and Cooper.

Salin is also the creator, writer and producer of the award-winning documentary, Kids & Animals – A Healing Partnership, which explores the reciprocal healing benefits of the human-animal bond.  The documentary, which aired domestically on Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet and was distributed and released independently in television markets throughout the world, was Salin’s inspiration for The Manadoob.
