KANE Black has made a name for himself in the United Arab Emirates, taking his crane rental company abroad in 2007. The company provides the booming construction, as well as the engineering, oil and gas sector with mobile cranes and business is rolling in for the 28-year-old. Black says his motivation to start up the business came from his own personal success.
“After graduating from university I was hired by a large listed Japanese group based in Tokyo. I rapidly rose through the ranks to become a director and was seconded to London to develop their European business,” says Black. “While not having the necessary experience in the sector or markets, I managed to build a highly successful European business on behalf of the company. “This made me realise that anything is indeed possible and lead me to believe in my abilities to cross industries and indeed borders and enter into unfamiliar territory.” Black says the business is set to prosper significantly with plans to own and operate 30 cranes by year end. The company plans to own and operate 70 cranes by fourth quarter 2009 and in excess of 100 by 2010. The company turns over $700,000 per month and is increasing revenue at a rate of around 20 per cent per month. Black says he is eager to build the company’s reputation. “Within the next 10 years we aim to become the pre-eminent lifting solutions company in the Middle East and India with the possibility of listing on the Dubai stock exchange,” he says. As a location choice Black could not have chosen better with the UAE and the Gulf region experiencing unprecedented growth and development. Black asserts he retains a competitive edge by ensuring he offers the highest level of customer focused service and utilising the highest quality model equipment.
