16th Annual Friends of Kids with Cancer Fashion Show and Boutique

PR Log (Press Release) – Oct 13, 2008 – CLAYTON, MO – The 16th Annual Friends of Kids with Cancer Fashion Show and Boutique will be taking place Friday, October 24th, at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton. This year will again feature a luncheon and a dinner show.
   Among the expected guests will be Dan McLaughlin, voice of the St. Louis Cardinals on FSN, the MC for the luncheon’s festivities will be Ed Goodman of 102.5 KEZK, and the evening’s master of ceremonies will be Guy Philips of Y98.1. The true stars of the show, however, will once again be the models, who are the courageous kids currently in treatment for cancer.
   While the theme of Touch the Heart of a Child will remain the same, another theme will be more prominent this year: hope. For the first time, survivors will participate in the show and walk side by side with current patients. Some of them are Fashion Show alumni, having appeared in a show while in treatment, but all of them carry the determination and courage that is a shining example to everyone, especially their younger counterparts.
   The evening will include shopping with vendors from all over St. Louis, an oral auction and a raffle, all proceeds of which go to Friends of Kids with Cancer, a non-profit that works to enrich the daily lives of children battling cancer and their families in the St. Louis area. The audience will be treated to quite a show by these special kids, as well as an inspirational speech from one of the models.
   Fifteen years after the inaugural event, it remains as one of the most unique experiences in St. Louis, a tradition that has become part of the fabric of the city. For the luncheon show, doors open at 10 a.m., lunch served at 11:30 a.m. and the show starts at 1:00 p.m. The Dinner doors open at 5:30 p.m., sinner served at 7 p.m. with the show immediately following dinner.    Friends of Kids with Cancer was founded in 1992 by developmental specialists and parents of children battling cancer, who saw a great and obvious need in their everyday lives. Friends now offers programs to fulfill the Emotional, Educational, and Recreational needs of children battling cancer and their families through the Pediatric Cancer Centers in St. Louis.
