Chicago, Illinois- New to Roscoe Village/Lakeview is Wishcraft, a colorful and comfortable place for children, teens and adults to explore their creativity in classes and as part of a community. Unlike a traditional art studio, students are encouraged to create without preconceived notions. Wishcraft craft classes provide a quality learning experience, showing that practicing math and spatial reasoning can create something functional and fun.
The Wishcraft workshop is a place where craftiness is celebrated and good, old-fashioned DIY skills are developed. Creative reuse is encouraged at the workshop and many of the classes offered focus on a commitment to protecting the environment. The EcoCraft classes for children include projects that use either recycled, natural or found materials. The EcoSew classes for children and teens introduce projects to fashionably recycle existing garments into new, usable items. The children's smocks for the messier classes are even created from recycled pillowcases.
Registration for Winter Session classes begins October 13th, 2008. The Winter Session runs November 17th, 2008 through January 31st, 2009. The workshop is located at 2312 W. Roscoe St. 1.5 blocks east of Western Ave.
