Maricopa County Divorce Rates Are Startling

Phoenix, AZ:  FACTS -  Maricopa County’s divorce rate is 64 – 70%.  Nearly 60% of the children raised from single-parent households live in poverty. 89% of children live in single-parent homes.  Even more, the impact these divorce rates are having on our economy is alarming – costing taxpayers an estimated $30 billion in federal and state expenditures.  

American businesses have suffered an estimated $6 billion due to decreased productivity stemming from marriage and relationship difficulties.  Family fragmentation (divorce and unwed childbearing) cost U.S. Taxpayers at least $112 billion a year or more than $1 trillion each decade.    

Research shows the social costs are extensive when parents divorce or single parents fail to marry. Their children suffer from increased risks of poverty, mental illness, juvenile delinquency and adult criminality, sexual and substance abuse, and education failure as school drop-outs increases.    

Why should individuals, businesses, and our Local, State and Federal government care about these facts?  It’s costing our society and young generations emotional pain, confusion, dysfunction, sickness and disease from stress, and ripping a huge hole in all our pocket books.  

In an effort to save America of our demise, people from all walks of faith are stepping out and shouting, “We need to stop this disease that is destroying our lives – marriages, families, and our precious innocent children.”  We all need to play a role in building up our society instead of watching it go to waste.  There is hope!  

The movie FIREPROOF was released in theatres all across the country on September 26th.  Over 1.8 million people have already seen the movie and couples are recommitting to their marriages.  In an effort to heal Phoenicians from this pain, a marriage movement is buzzing around the Valley.  It’s time to step up and save our marriages.
