PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 10, 2008 -
Skiing during the winter months is a popular pastime in Bavaria and Salzburg.  But now according to TheMovechannel.com visitors are also heading to these regions during the summertime as the resorts start to provide activities throughout the year.

With both regions blessed with wide open countryside, stunning mountains, clean fresh air and summer temperatures averaging 28 to 34 degrees, it’s only natural that Bavaria and Salzburg, so popular for winter skiing, should have so much to offer in the summer months.

Ruhpolding

Ruhpolding is located in the south of the Chiemgau region in Upper Bavaria, Germany, only 40kms from Salzburg and 140kms from Munich.

The Ruhpolding ski resort is in the southern-eastern part of Bavaria and has superbly groomed slopes - ranging from easy to hard - guaranteeing first class conditions for skiers, boarders and carvers.

But there’s more to Ruhpolding than just skiing. In the summer the area sees a surge of tourists for Alpine pursuits including: hill walking, mountain biking and trekking, as well as water activity such as swimming, sailing and windsurfing in Lake Chiemsee, the largest lake in Bavaria.

There is also the Ruhpolding Golf Club, which is a Par 72, 18-hole course, situated near streams, surrounded by farmland and offering wonderful mountain views.

The area is also blessed with museums, old mines, caves, cathedrals, baroque churches and many medieval castles to visit, including the legendary Neuschwanstein castle often called the "fairytale castle" and the basis for the "Magic Kingdom" of Walt Disney.

There’s also the Bavarian Forest, which is the oldest national park in Germany and has a network of clearly marked footpaths and cycle routes allowing visitors plenty of opportunity to enjoy the beauties of the park in the summer.

Finally there are countless nature conservation areas and more than 50 spas in the region, supplying health, wellness and relaxation remedies after a day of physical excersion.

Bad Gastein

The Austrian town of Bad Gastein is a fine example of a ski resort that has more to offer than just pistes and lifts.

Set in the midst of the National Park Hohe Tauern, more than 1,000 metres above sea level and within the state of Salzburg, the Gastein valley ski region has four domains totalling 250km of slopes and is part of the Ski amadé area. The skiing in the area favours good intermediates with lots of challenges and tree-lined skiing.

But when the winter snow melts and the warmth of the sun awakens the natural surroundings, Bad Gastein takes on a whole new appearance and spring brings forth different activities and pastimes.

Golf enthusiasts can head for the Gastein Golf Club, which offers a superbly designed, high-quality 18-hole course, suited to all levels and situated in between mature trees and small streams, with the Alpine peaks as a magnificent backdrop.

For those that wish to see some splendid scenery, there are organised hill-country hikes, which are very popular doing the months of June and July.

Away from the hills and the golf courses, there’s cycling and the wonderful benefits of a spa facility, which Bad Gastein is known for throughout the rest of Europe and offers hot springs and thermal waters.

Dan Johnson, Managing Director, comments:
“So, now these beautiful and easily accessible regions cater for all seasons, which boosts the local economies, encourages tourism and provides further opportunities for property investors.”
