Oct. 8, 2008 - PRLog -- The JESAP system and software helps employers develop a fair, competitive compensation structure that is both objective and defensible in court. The software also keeps organizations in compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Two upgrades enhance the 2009 software, which will be commercially available within six months: Descriptions on Demand and the Interactive Scatter Graph.

Descriptions on Demand is an electronic, web-based job description writer that’s incorporated in the JESAP software package. In 2009, this feature will be sold separately to accommodate users not purchasing the entire JESAP system. Descriptions on Demand is pre-populated with approximately 1,000 job descriptions written by Bruce and Blair Johanson, two of the founders of DB Squared. For unique job descriptions not found in the software, human resources executives can create one quickly by using an easy point-and-click process. Descriptions on Demand is designed to assist organizations with Americans with Disabilities Act compliance by maintaining current job descriptions that list essential job duties and physical/work environment requirements.

The Interactive Scatter Graph gives employers a snapshot of their company’s current compensation structure, making it easy to see where possible inequities exist. The graph is created when the JESAP software assesses every job based on an objective fifteen-factor point system and assigns each position a point value. The system plots all employees on a graph based on point values (represented on the “x” line) and individual salaries (represented on the “y” line). The software graphs a simple regression pay line through the points that’s based on the organization’s current compensation structure.

The 2009 Interactive Scatter Graph will color-code all employees by age, race or gender to highlight pay inequities. The software user can place the cursor over a particular plot on the graph (which represents an employee), and it will pull up a box that shows the individual’s name, age, ethnicity, gender, employment date, and wage amount. This feature aids in identifying potential unfair pay practices which may violate the Equal Pay Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It also aids in maintaining compliance with the Department Of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.

In today’s litigious culture, employers are actively looking for ways to protect their companies from costly lawsuits. In the last 10 years, the EEOC has filed 4,340 suits with settlement payouts of over $986 million dollars to various organizations. Last year alone, 362 suits were filed by the EEOC and $54.8 million was paid in court and out-of-court settlements.

Since its commercial launch, the JESAP software has met with success in some of the most progressive, successful companies in the U.S. After transportation giant J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. implemented the JESAP system, Senior Vice President of Human Resources Mark Greenway said, “JESAP hit a grand slam for us.”

Marty Floyd, Vice President of Human Resources for investment firm Stephens, Inc, said, “We love it. They take all the guesswork out of it.” DB Squared is also endorsed by the Arkansas Municipal League and the Arkansas Bankers Association.

DB Squared is the sister company of the management consulting firm, The Johanson Group. The methodology of the JESAP system was created and has been used by principles Bruce and Blair Johanson since 1985. In 2001, Bruce and Blair Johanson teamed with Dale Oliver, owner of Applied Computer Technology, and converted the JESAP method into a software system that’s paperless and user-friendly. The JESAP system and software has now been incorporated by more than 150 organizations such as J.B. Hunt, Stephens, Inc., Ozark Guidance Center, First Federal Bank, several Arkansas municipalities and many more.
