Job seekers are finding themselves in the job market for extended periods of time and without the power they once had to find a stable, well-paying job that just two years ago would have been a commodity in an appreciating market. The success of a job seeker is impacted by a number of factors, but it is largely based on the market in which one is searching. If it is in a slump, or even dead, as in the real estate industry or mortgage industry, people still need jobs.
“The job quest can have a casual approach, with a minimal amount of time exerted. Having this type of approach will not have the success that you would have if you invested more into the process,” stated Nepomuceno. “A job search done with a full-time job viewpoint is important and imperative to getting the most out of your search.”
Nepomuceno’s advice for job hunting included attending job fairs, networking, researching help wanted ads, and posting on Internet job boards; he feels the best way to leverage these resources is to utilize them in combination, not just choosing one and sticking with it. Nepomuceno also recommends seekers pay special attention not only to their resumé and how it is structured and written, but also to the cover letter that should always accompany it.
