Get ready for Veteran's Day Parade on November 11. NYC Transit employees and other MTA agency employees will march for the first time in the Veterans' Day Parade set for Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Transit Veterans Association (TVA) a vounteer employee organization welcomes veterans, friends and families to join them as they join thousands of others in the parade. This year's theme is 'Legacy of Honor.'
"Thousands of our employees saved New York City on 9/11 as "first-responders."
Details: Opening Ceremony, 10-11 A.M. Eternal Light Monument, Madison Square Park Fifth Avenue @ 24th Street; Veterans Day Parade, 11:30 AM – 3 PM Fifth Avenue, from 26th Street to 56th Street; Cross-town March From Intrepid Sea, Air Space Museum, 42nd Street from 12th Avenue to Fifth Avenue (map). A special contingent will depart the Grand Re-Opening ceremony of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on the West Side Highway and march along 42nd Street, joining the main parade in progress on 5th Avenue. Veterans Day Street Fair 9 AM - 6 PM, 56th Street between Madison & Sixth Avenues—Following the parade, participants and the general public are invited to a street fair at the end of the parade route where TVA will set-up booths along with other organizations and agencies. “Thank You for Serving” Video- A special video will include greetings from celebrities, organizations and the general public to our troops serving overseas. Parade crew will be filming these messages on the day of the parade; participants are invited to provide an on-camera message to our men and women in uniform!
