Stamford, CT - Robert H. Patton, grandson of the battlefield genius of World War II, will discuss his latest book, PATRIOT PIRATES:THE PRIVATEER WAR FOR FREEDOM AND FORTUNE IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION at the next Great Decisions program. The Great Decisions program will be at the New Canaan Library on Monday, October 27 at 7:00 PM in the Lamb Room.
The privateers of the Revolution operated in a twilit world of idealism and greed. Many familiar names – the Browns of Providence, the Cabots and Derbys of Salem, and the Binghams and Franklins of Philadelphia - appear here in unfamiliar, less admirable ways. More that two thousand privately owned warships became a massive seaborne insurgency that ravaged the British economy and helped to win America’s independence.
Admission to Great Decisions programs is free and refreshments are available courtesy of the New Canaan Library. The next Great Decisions program will be November 17, on the topic of Foreign Aid: New Players, New Goals?
The Bank of New Canaan is generously supporting the Great Decisions programs at the New Canaan Library. As New Canaan’s only locally-owned, independent commercial bank, the Bank of New Canaan is committed to providing the highest possible level of customer service. Its two branches are located at 156 Cherry Street and 208 Elm Street.
Great Decisions is a program of the Foreign Policy Association presented by The
