Trauma Intervention Program-OC Annual Heroes Heart Awards Dinner & Silent Auction November 7th, 2008

The dinner will award local Orange County Sheriff, Police, Fire, hospital, and Coroner personnel who were recognized by the volunteers as exercising an exceptional level of compassion towards the victims and survivors of tragedy.

Costa Mesa, CA (October 6, 2008) — The Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Orange County will hold their annual Heroes with Heart Awards Dinner and Silent Auction on November 7th, 2008 at the Hilton in Costa Mesa, California.

The dinner will award local Orange County Sheriff, Police, Fire, hospital, and Coroner personnel who were recognized by the volunteers as exercising an exceptional level of compassion towards the victims and survivors of tragedy.  

This year’s Honorary Chair is newly appointed Orange County Sheriff, Sandra Hutchens.  Also speaking at the event and sharing their experiences with TIP will be; Keynote Speaker, Assistant Sheriff, Jack Anderson; TIP Client, Steven Wulfestieg; ER Doctor from Placentia-Linda Hospital, Dr. Lisa Flora.

The proceeds of the auction will benefit TIP, which trains volunteers to assist victims and survivors while on the scene of a tragedy, providing emotional and practical support, which helps emergency personnel continue on with necessary duties such as investigation and public safety.  TIP services currently are requested by 43 Orange County emergency and public safety entities, are available 24/7, to which volunteers respond on-scene within 20 minutes.

Orange County residents and business owners are invited to donate items for the Silent Auction.  Donated items can include, wine/gift baskets, certificates for free products or services, gift cards, and event tickets.  All donations are tax-deductible and TIP is expecting to exceed previous attendance of 350 attendees.  Contributors should contact the auction chair Sandy Hill at 949-707-9016 to arrange item pickup, for program ad/sponsor information, and IRS receipt.

The Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction starts at 6:00 p.m. with dinner starting at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $85 ($65 for students).  The Hilton Costa Mesa is located at 3050 Bristol Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.  

:: ABOUT TRAUMA INTERVENTION PROGRAM
The Trauma Intervention Program, Inc. (TIP), a national non-profit organization founded in 1985 and has 15 chapters serving over 250 cities across the nation. At the request of Police, Fire and Hospital personnel, TIP volunteers provide emotional and practical support to victims of traumatic events and their families in the first few hours following a tragedy.  Service recognition TIP has received includes the Ford Foundation "Innovations in State and Local Government" and the US Justice Department "Crime Victim Service" awards.

The Orange County Chapter of TIP currently has 99 volunteers who are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, serving 20 cities, 12 hospitals, and 11 public safety agencies.  To volunteer, donate, or for more information go to www.tiporangecounty.org or call 949-707-9016.
