Teaching Crusade finds support from celebrity authors with Oprah sized clout in education

Teaching Crusade has been joined by authors of celebrity status in education in order to give back to teachers nationwide and help them succeed with the task of educating our Nation’s children.
 
Oct. 5, 2008 - PRLog -- Teaching Crusade has been joined by authors of celebrity status in education in order to give back to teachers nationwide and help them succeed with the task of educating our nation’s students.  These authors understand the importance of insuring a teacher’s success and have agreed to give of their time to help inspire our nation’s teachers through Teaching Crusade’s free seminar events.  The newest authors to join the panel of expert speakers are LouAnne Johnson, Harry Wong, Fred Jones and John Corcoran.  LouAnne Johnson is a writer, a teacher and a former marine.  She is most noted for her book My Posse Don’t Do Homework which was the inspiration for the movie Dangerous Minds starring Michelle Pfeiffer.  She is the author of many additional books of which the most recent include The Queen of Education and Teaching Outside the Box.  Harry Wong is one of the most recognized names in education with his highly successful book The First Days of School.  He is an author, speaker, and teacher who has published countless books and materials to help teachers succeed and thrive.  In addition to The First Days of School he has written many titles including The Effective Teacher, How to Improve Student Achievement and I Choose to Care.   Dr. Fred Jones has studied highly successful teachers for over 30 years, to see how  the "naturals" make success look easy.  During that time he has conducted extensive research and constant experimentation in classrooms.  His objective has been to perfect methods of classroom management that are both powerful and affordable for the teacher.  His highly acclaimed book Tools for Teaching is accompanied by workshops and DVD materials for teaching success.  John Corcoran is the founder of  the John Corcoran Foundation which was created to promote literacy through advocacy efforts, support of special literacy projects, and through the development of tutoring programs which provide the highest quality research-based instruction.  The Foundation has trained 300 tutors and tutored over 2000 students.  Mr. Corcoran has delivered his unbelievable personal story of illiteracy on Oprah, Fox News and across the nation.  His latest books include The Teacher who Couldn’t Read and The Bridge to Literacy.
