Bike riding is a favorite pastime, as well as a great physical activity for children. Kacey Thomas of American National Insurance Company has teamed up with J. Marlan Walker Elementary to help kids enjoy their bikes and provide safety information to help them ride safely
Kacey Thomas, who has put on over 20 Bike Rodeos in the Henderson, NV area, will be holding a Bike Rodeo on Friday, October 10th, at J. Marlan Walker Elementary School. The American National Team and J. Marlan Walker P.T.A. will lead several safety activities for children in grades K-5.

According to a study done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, more than one-fourth of the cyclists killed in traffic accidents in 2000 were between 5 and 15 years old.
Before your child pedals off, make sure they know the rules of the road:
• Stop at all stop signs and traffic lights, and how to use turn signals.
• Ride on the right hand side of the road, the same direction as traffic.
• Wear bright colored clothing so motorists and other bikers can see you.
• Look both ways before crossing a street or entering a street from a driveway or sidewalk.
• Keep your bike tuned up.
• ALWAYS wear a helmet.
The Bike Rodeo activities were developed based on crash data indicating the most common scenarios where children are at risk and are used nationwide to help prevent injuries and fatalities.
