Baltimore, MD –Baltimore’
The Casey Cares Foundation provides uplifting programs with a special touch for critically ill children. “When I received the message earlier this year from Casey Cares Program Coordinator, Debi Katzenberger, I was surprised and elated that they contacted us. After meeting Debi and hearing more about Kami’s Jammies, I knew that I needed to do what I could to assist with this initiative,”
Kami’s Jammies, a program of the Casey Cares Foundation, provides new sleepwear and themed pajama parties to children on extended hospital stays. This program was inspired in memory of Casey Cares child, Kamryn Lambert, who was Debi’s granddaughter. Creating a unique pair of Kami's Jammies is a fund raising initiative of the Casey Cares Foundation. Kami’s Jammies is not only a recipient of a portion of the proceeds, but they will also participate in a runway event showcasing of pajamas or sleepwear designed by a local designer, which I think is a good fit for our fairy tale theme for 2009.
“Kamryn was a frequent overnight hospital patient who bravely battled leukemia,” Debi Katzenberger explained. “She had a flair for fashion and felt special when she wore a new pair of pajamas in place of hospital gowns. We wanted to pass this symbol of joy and normalcy onto other sick children as her legacy.”
We are extremely happy to have made this decision for 2009, as we continue our mission for Baltimore’s Fashion Week to stay Focused, Poised, and Community Driven.
All events are open to the public with ticket sales beginning in April 2009. To learn more about Baltimore’s Fashion Week, visit www.baltimoresfashionweek.com.
