According to research from home improvement specialist Everest, approximately 9.67 million people in Britain will be staying in their homes and improving them rather than moving in the next 12 months. £17.18 billion is the estimated figure for spend on home improvements in 2005.’ (Mintel Report, 2005) "We feel like this industry is a perfect fit for our face to face marketing strategies."
Datamonitor forecasts that the market will grow on average at 5.4% per year over the next five years, with the strongest growth forecasted in the next two years. “Considering this, it demonstrates a good market for us to move into.” Cote adds.
He goes on to say: "With our experience of acquiring customers face to face for our media and telecommunication clients, we feel it would be a very easy transition to generate leads for industry leaders in the home improvement business. Our ability to be proactive in finding new customers is what separates us from other more passive companies."
EA Worldwide is currently conducting the pilot program in London with a leader in the industry, and plans on expanding this program throughout the South East in 2008. Customers living in the South East of England are most likely to undertake a home improvement, with 16 in every 1000 households undertaking a major project each year. (Mintel report 2004)
