SINGAPORE, APB will use the Softpress Premium online publishing solution from Serious Technology to create virtual editions of its monthly trade magazine. Adopting a format popularly known as an electronic-book (e-book), the virtual publication will be identical in design and content to the print version, but with one critical difference.
With the unique technology that Softpress Premium employs, APB’s virtual publication will provide its readers with a truly novel interactive experience. While simulating the look and feel of the physical publication, the latest Web 2.0 multimedia integrated technologies, including embedded links, Adobe Flash, video and audio, are also incorporated into the publication. The end-result is a product that takes advantage of the strong visual and substantial affinity APB has built with its long-time readers, while introducing a fresh and unique interactive experience.
Having a virtual version of the magazine will also allow APB to reach its extensive international readership base faster and further grow its base in non-Asian markets such as North America and Europe.
Another key feature of Softpress Premium is its unique advertiser feedback functionality. Utilizing a revolutionary concept known as “dot-reporting”
"We've been looking for a fast and easy solution for our readers and advertisers, and Serious Technology was in the right place at the right time with this revolutionary product," says Andrew Yeo, publisher and editorial director of APB.
"They demonstrated it to us recently at a trade show in Singapore and we made the decision there and then to run with it. We really like the dot-reporting feature as well as the speed of the system. The analytics is the icing on the cake."
APB’s virtual publication is due to be launched in early 2009, together with its revamped online portal.
