Elgin, Ill. — The virtual world now has one place to view the “results of creative thinking in America” represented by original drawings from thousands of young students.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Young Rembrandts, the national after-school program that teaches art to children, has created a web-based gallery where students can showcase their drawings — all while contributing to a great cause.

Starting Sept. 30, for every drawing uploaded to the gallery, located at www.drawingacrossamerica.org, Young Rembrandts will make a donation to Americans for the Arts in celebration of the arts and encouraging creative thinking.  In addition, Young Rembrandts will match any individual donation made to Americans for the Arts through the Web site.

“As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, we’re thrilled to see how many others recognize the importance and the impact of art,” said Bette Fetter, founder and CEO of Young Rembrandts. “Our goal is to enable all students to experience the power of art and this celebration is one way to do that.  More than 20 cities and counting have committed to participating and we’re thrilled to help Americans for the Arts as well.”

Sweeping the nation, this art movement is giving children a positive reason to draw.

Art enthusiasts not feeling like a Picasso can still make a donation without uploading a drawing through the “Donate” page of the Web site.

More about Young Rembrandts
For 20 years, Young Rembrandts has taught the power of drawing to children.  It partners with day care centers, pre-schools, elementary schools and community recreation centers to supply or augment the current art program offerings.  Young Rembrandts teaches drawing, the fundamental skill of all visual arts to children aged 3 ½ to 12.  The proprietary method and step-by-step curriculum dispels the myth that art is a talent a child has or doesn’t have, and demonstrates that art can be learned by all children.

In 2000, Bette and her husband, Bill Fetter, franchised Young Rembrandts Inc.  Currently, Young Rembrandts teaches about 30,000 students each week nationwide.  The goal, Fetter notes, is to reach at least 200,000 students across the nation through parent-funded programs.
