One of the most important aspects of a leader is her or his ability to make DECISIONS well, and often quickly. As we have seen very clearly from watching the news, leaders give their ear to many when contemplating a decision, but do they feel up to making decisions on their own? That’s an important thing to know whether you are hiring a manager or voting in the next president.
Information gathering can be left to others, but leaders need to keep their eyes set on the outlined goals and always be pulling themselves – and others – towards them. When looking for a leader, see HOW he or she makes a decision, and it will speak volumes. It is not simply a matter of liking the outcomes or agreeing with the decision, but does this candidate have an established system to make a decision? Without that, in times of pressure and crucial choice, the leader will surely fail to lead us all towards the goal.
Good leaders make decisions from a place of being grounded, clear on the goal, being present. Taking time to gather the information and hear it then sit with it – if even for a few minutes – to be clear on the answer. But where are our leaders learning to do this? There are no classes like this in school or in life. As Napolean Hill made clear in his definitive work on successful people “Think and Grow Rich”, no true success in life happened without the use of inner guidance, using inner knowledge.
There is a new book out that helps our up-and-coming college students learn to make clear decisions that keep them on track with the goals and visions they have created for themselves and the people they lead. “Getting Lucky 27 Quick Tips for College Students Achieve Your Vision Through Strong Intuition” is a basic action guide to help our future leaders practice that which they need most – the HOW TO on decision making systems. Available in print or an as ebook, this book is changing people’s lives.
