The Book of ‘Bert’: High Class Stars with Some High Class ‘Stache, a pop culture humor book centering on celebrities and their praiseworthy mustaches, written by Jon Chattman and Rich Tarantino is seeking a new publisher after the book’s existing one (Triad Publishing Group of Sarasota) shut its doors.

“Mustaches can’t seem to get any respect these days,” Chattman said in a prepared statement. Chattman and Tarantino took the world by storm last April - notably Manhattan where they passed out thousands of self-adhesive mustaches to commemorate the book’s release – by receiving kudos from the mustache community, and garnering national and local attention from the likes of AOL, the New York Post, The Journal News, the Chicago Sun-Times and The Howard Stern Show. The New York Daily News, in particular, referred to it as “The definitive text on celebrity mustaches” while < /tt>Ontario rockers The Guys lent their “song Man With a Moustache” to be the official theme song for the book.

But, lately there’s been trouble in mustache paradise. Triad has officially closed its doors after months of troubling times. “The book was so well received by those who read it, but it was extremely difficult to find it on shelves due to the limitations of Triad,” explained Chattman. Furthermore, the author said he and Tarantino haven’t received any book royalties as of yet, opportunities fell by the weigh side, and some preorders were never received. In terms of the former, Chattman said the defunct publisher has promised in writing that they will be compensated all back pay. “We expect to be paid by Triad, and we’re focused on giving this book a new home. We are still inundated with media requests. People want the mustache, and we intend to give them just that and more,” Chattman said.

The Book of ‘Bert’ is specifically a compendium of 25 different, well-known personalities profiled and ranked on their mustache integrity. Following each chapter are a few related sidebars counting down a list of “Top Mustaches” in various categories from “Best TV Dads with a Mustache” to “Best Musicians” with peach fuzz. Various celebrities from The Today Show’s Meredith Vieira to Juno’s Michael Cera to satirist Mo Rocca and Andre 3000 all weigh in on mustache importance throughout the years. John Oates, the former mustachioed music legend of pop duo Hall & Oates, lent the book its foreward. In a time where the mustache is seeing a reemergence with the growth of New York Yankees star Jason Giambi’s facial growth, Borat, and My Name is Earl’s Jason Lee – to name a few, it’s clear there never was a better time for The Book of ‘Bert.’ Tarantino, a nursery school teacher, noted, “The Book of ‘Bert’ is the first of its kind, this book will inspire you to grow a mustache, shave it and than grow it again, it’s that good.”

Help further the mustache fad today. Find The Book of ‘Bert’ a new publisher! “Mustaches make the world go around. This book was one small step for men with mustaches, and one giant leap for mankind,” Chattman said.

An online petition to get Bert a new publisher has taken place on Facebook.
