Barb Davis White for Congress Campaign Sends a Clear Message to Local Newspaper Star Tribune

The local Minneapolis newspaper Star Tribune has been thoroughly entrenched in Ellison, but the predominate word during this election season is ‘change’. The Star Tribune for the most part ignores "real" community issues, but likes the FOD!

Sept. 25, 2008 - PRLog -- Dear Steve Brandt and the Editors of the Star Tribune Newspaper, (Minneapolis)

We stand in opposition against a giant that has lost his shadow. Keith Ellison may have gripped the voters of Minnesota during the last election, but surveys show that the people of Minnesota are asking for a different choice in Congress. Barb Davis-White stands, not in opposition of the Democratic Party, but with the people of the 5th Congressional District. Her beliefs are simple and clear. I understand that you are thoroughly entrenched in Ellison, but the predominate word during this election season is ‘change’.

Barb Davis-White understands the needs and wants of the 5th Congressional District. As a writer it is your job, if not duty, to relay the facts to your readers. You stand in a unique place, unlike many individuals. What you say matters. But you, Steve Brandt, have a duty to your readers. What makes an election fair? The question haunts citizens, as well as officials. We all, regardless of political affiliation, want truth and honesty from our leaders. You are a leader; however, you do not possess the qualities needed. You present one-sided arguments and present a deceiving message that more people support Ellison than Davis-White.

Why not allow individual citizens to make an honest decision. I ask you this: work for honesty in political dealings. At this moment, however, you are required to present the facts unhindered by your own political agenda. I want to tell you about Barb Davis-White. She is an educated woman who has a heart of a servant, but, more importantly, she has an agenda for change. The word ‘change’ has been causally thrown around, but this is what Davis-White will work for. She has a strong stance on education, abortion, the Iraq war, taxes, and energy.

Education is the foundation of our nation, but our foundation is failing. Money is not the answer, it never has been. However, the federal government and those in Congress believe that the solution is, yet again, more money and more control. Studies have shown that more parental control supports students, as well as families and communities. She will support policies that bring education to the parents and communities.

Historically, we know that millions of children have been terminated through Roe v. Wade. Davis-White does not insist on entering your bedroom and patrolling your actions, but understands that abortion has turned into a form of modern convenience. The issue must be approached with care and concern. With this in mind, the issue must be returned to the states. It does not meet the standards as a constitutional issue nor should it be determined by the federal government.

We stand on a foundation that is supported not by those who sit in the comfort of their homes, but who put on a uniform and honor the United States flag. At this moment, our forces are serving as the stabilizing force in Iraq. The surge has worked and it will continue to work. Predicated on this fact, Davis-White intends on withdrawing from Iraq once stabilization has occurred, including the safety of the Iraqi people and the government.

Our financial system is in disrepair. This has a direction connection to taxes and the energy crisis. Her approach is common sense. Tax cuts that were made in 2001 and 2003 will quickly expire. Davis-White will work to make tax-cuts permanent and place income tax in the hands of the state government, rather than the bureaucratic system of Washington. Tax increases make each working American suffer, but the immediate issue surrounds the rising cost of fuel. We must boost supply and productivity through incentive tax breaks. She understands the time and effort involved in reducing our energy dependence. Yet, why not conserve energy now.

Barb Davis-White has made the decision to run against Keith Ellison instead of running for a vacant seat. She does this with the belief that our nation was built by the hands of our local community members. Davis-White has said: “Let’s stop apologizing for our nation.” And I ask you to consider one last thing; a majority of her supports come from those who have broken from their traditional political allegiances to support a woman who stands for honesty. These supporters consist of the working mother who makes over 12 dollars an hour, but is still unable to provide adequate daycare or food. She is not a political celebrity. The people of the 5th Congressional District know her and her website has generated outstanding popularity.

Look at her website, talk to her supports, and understand who she is as a candidate. Barb Davis-White will bring the government back under the banner of “We the People”. I am not asking you to agree with every position, but I am asking you to take the time to give honest and equal access to Davis-White.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss Davis-White’s stance on the issues in more depth, please contact me or her press secretary Donald W.R. Allen,II at press@barbdaviswhiteforcongress.com.
