The Jarvis Green Foundation assisted a single mother and her four children by contributing $25,000 towards the purchase of a new a home, after their devastating loss in Hurricane Katrina. Jarvis Green is set to visit the Jefferson family at their new home for the first time and see how they are doing. The family closed on the house on September 17, 2008.

Why:
Although New Orleans and the victims of Hurricane Katrina have all but faded from the media spotlight, many still suffer from the devastation caused by the disaster. Jarvis Green, through his foundation, is committed to continuing assistance to those victims, especially single mothers, and to keeping them in the hearts and minds of those who may be able to help.

Jarvis Green, of Donalsonville, LA, is a defensive lineman for the New England Patriots. Green was drafted with the 126th overall pick (4th round) of the 2002 NFL draft. One of the most dominating defensive linemen in LSU history, Jarvis finished his career ranking fourth on the school's career-record list with 20 quarterback sacks for 123 yards. In seven NFL seasons, Green has started 31 of 95 games while recording 168 tackles (110 solo) 59 assists, and 25 sacks. Jarvis was the recipient of the 2006 New England Patriots Ron Burton Community Service Award.
