BURLINGAME, CA – Qlubb Inc., a leading provider of social networks for real-life groups, announced the first major release of its flagship service since its official launch in August 2008. Qlubb, enables real-life groups (sometimes called offline groups) to quickly and easily get online and get organized. Since its launch, a wide variety of groups have joined ranging from playgroups, classrooms, PTA’s and families to video game clubs, book clubs, sports teams and professional associations. In order to meet the common needs of these groups, Qlubb has introduced a number of new features to help these groups be more efficient and effective.
“Groups of people who work together towards a common goal need a right and convenient set of tools to support them,” said Sophia Chiang, CEO of Qlubb. “Since our launch, we’ve done dozens of in-depth interviews with our users to better understand what it means to make a group of people work and play more efficiently. With this new release, we’ve added even more capabilities to help groups collaborate more effectively and build stronger social ties.”
In part from user feedback, Qlubb is introducing:
* File sharing – Enabling anyone in the Qlubb to upload and download files to privately share with the rest of the group and to associate files with calendar events and dates.
* Photo sharing - Enabling users to categorize photos by calendar events and dates and increasing the free photo sharing space limit to 1 GB per Qlubb.
*Volunteer notification - Automatically notify users of upcoming volunteering and event opportunities via new home page messages.
Many groups need file sharing for collaboration and archival purposes. "At the Presidio Knolls School (PKS) we use Qlubb to help all of the parents, teachers and administrators to communicate and be on the same page. It has been very valuable in notifying and coordinating our schools activities, volunteer needs and events," said Wendy Xa, founder of PKS, a new Mandarin-immersion preschool. "We plan to use file sharing to distribute our weekly newsletters, store school documents like our Parent Handbook and teaching aids so that our parents can augment children learning outside of the classroom."
Unlike most other file sharing and photo sharing specific solutions where people have to pass around links that can soon get buried or lost, Qlubb enables members to associate files and photos to specific events. When planning events, Qlubb provides not only publishing, but planning tools (like sign up sheets and now file sharing) so that everyone is on the same page. Photos can be uploaded and attached to the event either before or after the event. Due to customer demand, Qlubb has decided to increase the limit of photos to 1GB per Qlubb.
Qlubb is free for anyone and is available at http://www.qlubb.com.
