According to KSFY. com, O'Gorman and Roosevelt High Schools in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, have concerns about the bacterial skin infection MRSA.
O'Gorman sent a letter to all its parents while Roosevelt sent a letter to only families of its football players.
The family of O'Gorman Football Player, Will Powell says doctors have told them he contracted the infection. He's spent the last two days in the hospital. He's now home recovering but will be on IV medicine for another week.
Powell and his O'Gorman teammates played Roosevelt last Saturday. Now, Roosevelt is warning its players to watch out for skin irritations or infections.
Thursday, O'Gorman High School officials told KSFY a second student is believed to have MRSA.
Wednesday night the school received a thorough top to bottom cleaning to be safe. There is no evidence of any MRSA bacteria at the school.
"Very good chance he got it someplace else, we'll never probably know that for certain and there's no reason for us to believe that he got it at school. On the other hand it could have happened," said SF Catholic Schools Superintendent Dr. Tom Lorang.
O'Gorman officials also tell us there is no apparent direct connection between Will Powell and the second O'Gorman student who may be infected. Roosevelt High School has reported no MRSA infections at this time.
