Alka has acquired new range of Hamitaro machines from japan for production of self tapping inserts used in plastic injection moulding. This range of Brass inserts will be available from 2mm to 20mm and 1/8"- 3/4" in size in different thread forms like UNC UNF BSP BSPT NPT NPTF etc. There is a growing demand for self tapping inserts in Europe, US ,Middle east etc as this technology has been so far restricted to a few companies with absolute monopoly and very high pricing.
The company plans to have a workforce of 290 people at it's new plant coming up in Gujarat where all the spade wrok has already been done by 2008 September. Commercial production of these inserts will be in the month of November 08 with pilot orders already trickling in from USA and Japan.

The turnover from new product line is envisaged at US$ 13 million in the year 2009-2010 with the cumulative turnover being 22Mn US$ for the company. Alka boasts of big client names in Automotive assembly segment with companies in India, USA and Japan as leading clients.Self tapping inserts are also used in roto-moulding and blow-moulding industry for variety of uses.
