Rabbi’s Approach to Interfaith Weddings Hits Home with Couples, as Demand for Services Increases

Rabbi Gruber, unlike most other rabbis, is willing to officiate for interfaith couples, without condition. He believes that the ceremony should reflect the couple’s desires, and so he meets with each couple to carefully craft the ceremony.

Sept. 21, 2008 - PRLog -- When Rabbi David S. Gruber of Frisco, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas, started officiating at interfaith weddings he had no idea how great the need was. Having launched his website www.interfaithweddingrabbi.net in December of 2007, Gruber has worked with or is working with about twenty five couples already, with more requests coming in every week. He has officiated or will be officiating at weddings as close as Plano, Texas, another northern suburb of Dallas, and as far away as Quito, Ecuador.

As most rabbis remain opposed to interfaith marriage, most interfaith couples find it extremely difficult to find a rabbi to officiate for them. Gruber, a former Orthodox rabbi, stands out in this sense, as he is willing to officiate for interfaith couples, and poses no conditions to his willingness to officiate or co-officiate at their weddings.

Gruber also has a very particular approach to how he works with couples. His philosophy is that the wedding ceremony should really reflect the couple’s desires. To that end he meets with each couple a number of times (either in person or over the phone depending on where they live), as they slowly and carefully craft the wedding ceremony to make it unique to each couple. “Your wedding is about you as a couple, as two unique individuals, and should be about creating a memorable ceremony that will stay with you for years to come,” says Gruber.

This approach resonates with couples. “You made our day magical… If any couple wants their big day to be perfect, I would recommend… you! I know you will do everything you can to make their wedding beautiful and uniquely tailored just for them,” wrote Jenny and Sidney of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Richmond Texas. “You took the time to get to know us… and that made all the difference on our big day… We have already gotten so much feedback from our family and friends, saying it was the best ceremony they had ever seen - it was so personal and had all of the elements that we wanted… It was perfect,” wrote Reagan and Michael of New York City and San Antonio, Texas.
