Optelian is pleased to announce the addition of optical fiber amplifier (OFA) and dispersion compensation modules (DCM) to the LightGAIN system family. Adding amplification allows telecom and multi-service operators to use power-saving LightGAIN systems in more applications such as long-haul DWDM, interconnecting rings in regional applications, and higher-loss metro OADM applications. The dispersion compensation module complements the amplifier in Optelian’s 40 Channel DWDM system for reach extension beyond 100km.
Optelian’s OFA-210 and 230 are gain-flattened, low-noise, C-Band amplifiers with +17 dBm output power. They can be used in preamp, postamp (booster), or lineamp configurations. Their power consumption is very low, at only 9.5 watts. The dispersion compensation module’s key advantage is its low insertion loss of 2.6dB.
As with all LightGAIN systems modules, both the OFA and DCM can be managed remotely through Optelian’s ONM-200 network management software and they can be configured stand-alone at the shelf with the easy-to-use, card-level, graphical user interface. Their small size, each at 1 slot wide and 5U high, makes them easy to fit into crowded racks and remote terminals.
