Alon Gapi and Jim Duna received the 2008 think green Award for Independent writing about Albanian green environment, presented by the Albanian Green Centre for Independent writing at the University of Tirana, Tirana this morning.
Alon and Jim ( both writers for http://www.findalbanian.com ) won the award for their contribution documentary series "Green and Albanian Land", broadcast on "Radio Albania Blue" on Radio National in August 2008.
The documentary focused on the contentious "green environment and making Albania green" in the future. The pair examined matters driving the discussion in the lead-up to 2008 state green community. Alon and Jim interviewed people, support groups and environmental health practitioners among others.
Highly commended for the award were Megi Hasani and Ben Laki for their issues of green stories "New green Albania", published in Albanian newspaper GM, between January and February 2008. Hasani and Laki stories were an exploration into the green environment of saving trees of new Albania who was highly damaged by tree cutting. The articles focused on the insufficiency of issues and responses to the subject matter.
The Alon Gapi prize, awarded to the best Green Honors or graduate theory/development within writing or Media Studies at the University of Tirana, Tirana, was also presented. The winner of the prize was Jim Duna for his radio story about the Albanian new green ways to save the environment secrets to deal with creating plans. The story was broadcast on the TVADC news, GHBO Radio National, 18 September 2008, and was co-produced by Goni Atanai.
Mira Giovani, the Director of the Albanian Green Centre for Independent Journalism, presented the awards.
