Sept. 18, 2008 - PRLog -- New Acting Studio in Portland Offers Scholarships for Young Actors
Classes Start October 11

Portland, OR-  Eric Hull, one of Portland’s finest actors, recently opened The Waterbrook Studio, located at 2127 N. Albina #108 in Portland.  The studio offers acting classes for all levels of students. Beginning this October, The Waterbrook Studio and will be providing 2 scholarships per session to beginning level actors who wish to explore and improve their skills, but cannot afford classes.  For scholarship information, contact Eric at waterbrook@gmail.com.

Eric Hull has worked in Portland theater and film for the past 30 years, garnering awards for his work on both stage and screen including a Drammy for his performance in “Long Days Journey Into Night” and a Special Cascade Award for Acting for the film “My Dinner with Diane.”

As a teacher, Eric has helped actors with every degree of experience.  He has taught classes and workshops for actors from beginners through professional levels, providing the student with his insight, support and expansive “real-life” experience in the craft.  His approach to learning creates a sustaining atmosphere where students can take chances and explore the work without the fear of being harshly criticized.

Eric has also coached actors privately and taught at grade schools, high schools and colleges throughout Oregon, as well as at the Portland Actors Conservatory.  His classes have focused on acting, scene study, improvisation and writing for stage and screen.

He was a member and manager for the improvisation comedy group Waggie and Friends and a founding actor/writer for the film/live-performance company, Armchair Actors. Eric is also a highly regarded dancer and choreographer of the highly complex Argentine Tango.

Two types of classes will be offered at The Waterbrook Studio: The Actor’s Workout class will provide a good foundation for beginners and essential exercise for more practiced actors.  The Acting Lab class is a straightforward acting class which will enable students to work on a monologue or scene during each class.

“The Waterbrook Studio is a place for actors to work on their craft without the pressure of an audience or auditions,” Eric explains. “There is no opening night, just the opportunity to explore the craft of acting in a welcoming atmosphere.  Everyone is welcome here.  Everyone can learn.”
