AquaStar's Line of Drain Covers Compliant with New Pool and Spa Safety Act Standards

AquaStar Pool Products, Inc. (AquaStar) offers a multitude of different products for public and residential pool and spa owners and operators that comply with Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act standards.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Sep 18, 2008 – The deadline for anti-entrapment drain covers required on all public pools and spas called for by the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act is rapidly approaching. AquaStar Pool Products, Inc. (AquaStar), at the cutting edge of anti-entrapment pool and spa drain development, offers a multitude of different products for public and residential pool and spa owners and operators.

The San Diego, California based company currently has 16 products that comply with the new standards set forth by the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, which takes effect December 19, 2008. The act is named after Virginia Graeme Baker, the 7-year-old granddaughter of former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III. Graeme was a victim of suction entrapment in June of 2002.

Realizing early on a greater need for safer swimming pools and spas, AquaStar began developing anti-entrapment drain technologies well before the Pool and Spa Safety Act was passed into law on December 19, 2007. The company saw the growing numbers of entrapment-related injuries and drownings as cause for serious concern and decided to take action.

“We continued to hear about children being seriously injured and even drowning because drains were not safe,” AquaStar co-founder Olaf Mjelde said. “Well before the Virginia Graeme Baker Act was passed, AquaStar decided to take a proactive approach to safety in and around the pool.”

The company is dedicated to promoting pool safety and manufacturing products that exceed safety standards set forth by the Pool and Spa Safety Act, and now offers 16 compliant drain covers with more in the works.

”We believe that pool safety is priority number one,” Mjelde said. “That is why AquaStar continues to develop the safest products money can buy.”
