Minister Killeen Congratulates New Teagasc Chairman

Thursday, 18 September 2008 – Minister of State and Clare T.D., Mr. Tony Killeen has congratulated the newly appointed Chairman of Teagasc.

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 18, 2008 – Dr Noel Cawley assumes the position, which was occupied by Dr. Tom O'Dwyer for the past ten years.

Minister Killeen commented, ‘Dr. Cawley’s wealth of experience will ensure that the excellent work carried out by Dr. O’Dwyer in developing the organisation will be maintained. I have every confidence that Dr. Cawley will help to drive the development of one our most important sectors during the challenging times ahead.’

The Junior Agriculture Minister paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman saying that he leaves Teagasc having set out a clear structure and mission for the organisation for the years ahead.

Dr Cawley was appointed as Chairman of Teagasc by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr Brendan Smith TD this week.

Dr. Cawley was Chief Executive of the Irish Dairy Board until 2006. He also served as Chairman of the Irish Horse Board, and more recently chaired the Government-established Seafood Strategy Review and Implementation Group. He also chaired the Farmers' Charter Monitoring Group set up by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and is a Director of One 51 Plc.
