Is it harder to get a record deal these days? You can bet the Flyers, CD's, and T-shirts in your trunk that it is! An artist in the digital age does not lack the drive and the hustle....what they lack is "the meeting." The chance to meet face to face with a record label to show them what myspace can't....the charisma, the look, the stage presence, the personality....
So what's the solution? Let Fourth Quarter Entertainment bring the major labels to your front door.
On October 4th and 5th Koch and Asylum Records will be the featured labels at "Labels Lounge." Koch and Asylum are looking for talent in the genres of Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop. The experience will be from 10am-8pm at Fusian Ultra Lounge in Orlando, FL.
The concept? Give local artists/producers the chance to play their music and perform their songs in front of the labels. Artists/
The Orlando event will be the first "Label's Lounge" in a series of nationwide experiences. The event will be hosted by the Co-CEO's of Fourth Quarter Entertainment, Mike "Profitdoe" Ramsey and Bobby "Franchise" Davidowitz. Their diverse look and personalities as well as the dynamic nature of the event has spawned the filming of a "Label's Lounge" pilot.
The artists/producers will pay a fee for the meeting with the labels but the value is easy to see. Assuming an artist makes the connection with a label and gets a meeting then the next step would be to buy a plane ticket to the major city where the label is located, book a hotel, and then of course you have meals and transportation. If the artist doesn't happen to have an official meeting, then they might do all of the above and in addition sleep on the sidewalk outside of a label in hopes of convincing an A&R to listen to their music.
Fourth Quarter makes this process economical and efficient by charging a fee of $350 to bring artists face to face with the labels. In addition, the fee naturally filters out those who might not be quite ready to get in front of a label or might not be serious about their careers. This is a good thing, being that Fourth Quarter's goal is also to make sure the Label's are getting a strong pool of talent. "The way we look at it, if someone knows they have what it takes, and we are providing them a chance to possibly live their dream of getting paid to make music...then most serious artists will look at their expenses and undoubtedly find that they can simply eliminate unecessary expenses for a month or two and make it happen," says Bobby Franchise.
The fee also includes a professional photo shoot for CD and Album covers as well as professional video of their performance.
