USDA Partners with Arbor Education & Training/Prince George’s Department of Social Services
Largo, MD – Arbor Education and Training announced a new partnership between the USDA’s Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) through the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension. The collaboration will serve to implement nutrition educational classes with clients who receive assistance from the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services. The program will teach individuals how to make nutritious food choices, learn how to plan and prepare nutritious snacks, how to safely handle, prepare and store food and how to stretch food dollars to last the whole month. Each participant will receive a certificate from the University of Maryland after completing the sessions.
Nicole Peters, Director for Arbor Education and Training states, “We are very excited about providing our customers with the tools necessary to eat healthy and teach their families healthy eating habits. This program helps our customer make better choices, which helps reduce the risk of obesity and other issues related to unhealthy eating habits.”
Arbor Education and Training is one of the country’s principal providers of services for both the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Programs. Through Arbor’s many programs, clients gain employment valuable to their life goals and manage retention of these opportunities.
