A German software developer has created a uniform, inexpensive way for reports to be written by anyone – not just technical writers. SoftRequest, an innovative company founded by Joerg Carstens nearly two years ago, recently released ReportManager to help business owners develop reports on their terms at a price they can afford. This ad hoc inquiry and reporting tool uses a modern, simple Windows-style graphical user interface to create a familiar, user-friendly environment.
“We think users don’t need overcrowded software tools, but functional tools that are very easy to use,” Carstens said.
Perhaps the best features of ReportManager are the facts that report definitions are just a few simple clicks away, and always appear in the same attractive format. Without this automated feature, it can be time-consuming to conform all reports to a predetermined design. ReportManager’
Currently, ReportManager can be used with Microsoft SQL-Server, Microsoft Access and IBM DB2/400 databases. Access to other popular databases like Oracle and MySql is in development. Reports are currently available in Excel or .pdf files, and in the German or English languages, with more languages expected soon.
