OTIS-P is an economical and effective way to inspect above ground storage tanks using ultrasonic waves, and can satisfy API 653 inspection requirements.
OTIS Probe inspects aboveground storage tanks (AST’s) containing oil products, water, or virtually any type of liquid. This is accomplished with the tanks in-service and full of product. The tank does not need to be cleaned at all during inspection. The end result is a tremendous savings to the tank owner while greatly reducing the safety and environmental risks associated with conventional methods. The OTIS probe incorporates transducers for ultrasonic testing (UT) in a custom-designed track mechanism that has the ability to brush debris, such as sludge and sediment, away from the ultrasonic assembly. The OTIS Probe is deployed through the tank’s top man way and the location of the Probe on the tank floor is controlled by an operator positioned on the top of the tank. UT data collected by the probe is analyzed to report the thickness of the tank floor as well as any pitting or corrosion.
