On October 5, Michael Aquino will host Indie Music Circus, a monthly showcase for independent musicians at Luna Stage, 695 Bloomfield Ave. in Montcalir.  Glen Coleman, Kate Evans and The Bloomingfields will be featured this month.

Glen Coleman's music has been placed in independent films and plays and was recently featured on ABC World News programming.  In January 2008, his single, "Something Better" from his recently released debut cd, ". . .before the crowd." ranked number one for most requested song on Midnight Blues Radio.  His song “Fish” also ranked best folk/roots song on Moozikoo Radio.  Glen is currently promoting ". . .before the crowd," produced by music veteran Dean Bailin. Glen's music has inspired musical collaborations with a broad range of talented performers and artists. His recent collaborations include work with master slam poet, Dujuana Sharese; award winning classical saxophonist, Kevin Gosa; award winning performance artist, Christine Goodman; Irish troubadour, Matt Gibbons; and multi instrumentalist and vocalist, Dan McBride.  Visit www.glencoleman.net for more information.

While getting a degree in music from Rutgers University, Kate Evans studied improvisation and composition with jazz greats Kenny Barron, Ted Dunbar, and JoAnne Brackeen. At the same time, she was cutting her teeth in the pop music scene as singer and flutist in the world music big band All Gods' Children, which she toured with for six years. Kate also performed and recorded with a wide variety of groups ranging from the Benny Carter Big Band (on the Grammy Award–winning “Harlem Renaissance”) to the alt-rock band Ween. In 1995, Evans began performing her original songs with her own band, ISOE. Evans put out her first solo CD, “Release,” in 2001 and has since promoted the album by touring locally.  Kate’s website is www.kateweb.com.

Featured on the Parents Who Rock CD, "Go Play Outside," The Bloomingfields are fronted by Montclair couple, Janet Donofrio and David Rieth, who first started a band in the East Village back in the 80s with bassist/songwriter Brendan Mee.  Today The Bloomingfields are headquartered in the couple's Bloomfield Avenue basement where they work up original songs like "You're Bad for Me" and "Little Kung Fu Shop" with Brendan Mee on bass, guitarist/songwriter Andy Day on lead and John Packel rocking the drum kit.

Entrance is $7 and $5 for Students with a valid ID.  For more information on Luna Stage visit www.lunastage.org.  For more information on Michael Aquino visit www.something-artsy.com.
